The Saddle Skedaddle Spring Series finally got underway after the snowed off false start earlier in the month. Hundreds of riders swelled the start line keen to kick start their 2012 racing campaign. The course was a belter; fast open singletrack with great descents such as Deerstalker, to nasty steep loose climbs that left all but the most determined walking. At each round one lucky rider (over 18's only) will walk away with a holiday thanks to title sponsor Saddle Skedaddle. Arran Wills racing in Open was the happy chap to receive this fantastic holiday.

You'll find all the results and photographs from the day via the links above. Later in the week the first series points will be allocated and published. Although we missed round 1 you will still need to score points in a minimum of three rounds to qualify for a series position or prize. We look forward to seeing you all again at Crowthorne Wood on the 11th March where the course should throw up a few surprises from the usual.

by Jane Lucas, 05 Feb 12.

As you will all know by now, the weather got the better of us and we have had to cancel Round 1 of the Spring Series. We're really sorry for any disappointment, but everyone's safety always comes first. The team are now dismantling the unused course. We will be transferring all Round 1 pre-entries to Round 2 on 26th February. If you can't make that Round please email us (info@gorrick.com) and we will sort something out for you. If you entered the Series we will be emailing you. Enjoy the snow and we'll see you in 3 weeks.

Spring Series R1 - CANCELLED

by Jane Lucas, 04 Feb 12.

Our sincere apologies, we have checked but the conditions would be too dire and dangerous for racing. It's not a decision we make lightly as we have to consider more than just riding bikes. Such as the infrastructure of the raceday and being able to get everyone on and offsite safely. Thankyou for your understanding.

Merida Brass Monkeys R3 - Hungry Hill Results and Photographs

Hundreds of Brass Monkey's came out of hibernation to test their legs at the Hungry Hill finale, and what a leg tester it was with 1000ft of climbing per 8 mile lap. Split nicely with all the tough ascending first, followed by a great mix of flat trails on the top plateau, then onto the final fast downhill which is always a blast. Trail conditions were exceptional as they have been at every round, so much so that "Mild Monkeys" seems a more appropriate title. All the contenders for the overall series positions got their just rewards. Thanks to the sponsors who we are grateful for supporting the races, namely: Merida Bikes, SRAM, Kenda, For Goodness Shakes, Mule Bar, Four4th Lights, Nomad, 1st Gear Cycles. Full results and race photographs are available via the links above.

To start the XC race season proper make a date in your diary for Round 1 of the Saddle Skedaddle Spring Series starting at Tunnel Hill on the 5th February. More race preview info coming soon.
